Welcome to Cloughie55 = Robert Clough

I first met Robert in the late 60's/early 70's through his fellow VW nut Murray MacDonald. (I was into Mini's in those days). I seem to remember Robert had a VW with a Porshe engine. In the 90's Robert won his triple in a 1303. His car was controversial at the time as it was fuel injected. That's the engine (on carbs not Injection) that sits in the back of my VW1302s. I wrote a piece about it when I fitted it, and yes its still on Classical Gas http://www.classictrials.co.uk/gas98102.htm

Wreck Rescue

Mark Edwards the vet is hosting the programme about the old yellow Capri that nearly graced the Exeter and was a dead loss on the Allen (I think) last year.   It is on 251 Discovery Real Time at 11pm tonight and might contain the odd glimpse of Classic Trials cars.

under 21's

I have just got back from passengering on the Tamar Trial for Dave Haizelden.Whilst on the event we caught up with a young female driver from Cornwall and during the conversation insurance came up.We discovered that with her loading her entry cost her about £55 compared to Dave's £40,and this restricted  the amount of events she could afford to enter. How about clubs offering a cheaper entry to under 21's by about 10 or 15 pounds? This would level out entry fees with other drivers and possibly encourage younger entrants so in the long run the club would probably not lose out.Once they turn 21 their insurance loading will come down to normal and they could pay the full entry.Younger drivers need encouragement as us slightly older!? ones won't be trialling for ever. How about it or is there something obvious I have overlooked? ...Nick.

Another "must see"

Pondering on why I'd lost interest in Formula 1 some years ago, I reflected that none of the current bunch of drivers (Lewis Hamilton excepted, maybe) have any of the flair of one of the historic "greats" - Gilles Villeneuve. I vividly remember his epic, if ultimately unsuccessful, drive in the 1979 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort and have discovered that a video of the incident is available on You Tube at http://youtube.com/watch?v=cnpf_9bAUu8

Would, could, that ever happen today? ... and would most of the current F1 drivers care?

Enjoy. Andrew.

Nimrod Trials Car For Sale on Ebay

I see that Ted Holloway has decided to sell his Enigma - variation Nimrod on Ebay. If you are in the market for a competitive trials car then you could do worse than look at item 170159898926 or search '2006 enigma - low mileage' in the 'kit car' section.

EXMOOR CLOUDS

I have spoken to Minehead Motor Club's Dick Hutchings this evening and after consulting farmers and landowners the Exmoor Clouds will run.Things have been a bit late as Dick has been ill and unfortunately the loss of Keith Hole who did an awful lot of work on the clouds. However regs are in the post and should also be available from Minehead's website www.woodward35.freeserve.co.uk/ .Dick also mentioned not to worry about the closing date in the regs but if they could be sent asap it would help him...thanks ..Nick Farmer

Another Midget diff

L&G,
I have another MG Midget diff, this time a 3.9. This is definitely the last one!
It appears to be in good order, nice and oily, no chipped teeth evident.
There's also a collection of gaskets, most of a head set and conversion set along with some rear axle gaskets.
And I have some interior trim panels in 'well used' condition, but serviceable; it looks like most of the cards forward of the doors.

Reasonable offers entertained.
Location - Between Bristol and Stroud.
