Hi to you all
I have just been reading through the Exeter 2001 Instructions.
Not having done the trial before I do not understand why Class 5 haven't got a restart on Slippery Sam.
Can anyone shed any light on to this?
Take care & Merry Christmas
Mark
Hello Mark, Haven't got my stuff on the Exeter yet. Give me something to look forward to when I get home tonight if the post has been. Don't know if its the reason but I believe the MCC have been trying to encourage more entries in class 5 by giving them an easier time on some events. Perhaps thats the reason. I know when I competed in class 6 we were treated as different to class 7 on Wooston Steep even though we were both yellows. Michael
ReplyDeleteMike's reasoning is just about right. Not only are Class 5 entries a bit thin on the ground, but those that do enter tend not to do very well. Even with the reappearance of the Greenslade Reliant, the OVERALL competitiveness of Class 5 is poor. This is not a criticism of the cars or the preparation or the driving. It is a simple fact that most of the vehicles are now rather old - some are quite valuable - many are not capable of competing strongly without drastic modification which their owners are reluctant to do. The MCC likes to give "ordinary" vehicles a bit of a chance whenever possible! from - Mike Furse.
ReplyDeleteSounds fair enough to me! I was just merely wondering at the thinking behind it. Only 3 weeks to go and I can't wait for the start.
ReplyDeleteMe to. The big thing is to clean Clinton because of all the Falcon Marshalls. I remember I failed the restart the first year Falcon marshalled the hill. It was Mike Hayward on the flag. This year he's my passenger! Michael
