Julian, Yes I do believe David can be persuaded to part wih his Buggy. btw - It's famous. It's the ex Graham Marshall car that was in Peter Noads book and pictured in Volksworld recently. The type 3 engine came from Mike Pearsons Buggy that was pictured in this months Volksworld. Michael
Cheers for the help... I assume it was SUL285 before the Q plate? Do you have his phone number/Email address? Any Idea of price? (I dont want to spend too much, not a supprise I suppose) Has he taken it off the road? Does it need repair? Any info would be appreciated. Julian.
Julian, David's e-mail is dave@buggyt.fsnet.co.uk I guess he will have to change that now he has a Troll. Yes it did have an original reg but that was as a Beetle. David wanted everything legit but "the man" said it came from too many cars so a Q plate it is. It went well enough on the Exeter, storming Simms, you will have to talk to DT about money! Michael
May I suggest that you build one from scratch. I know this bloke from Hatfield who breaks Beetles, and he's got loads of parts for sale. I've heard it said that he's got enough pieces to build at least dozen buggies, and has in fact recently built one for himself! I can put you in touch if necessary.
I seem to have joined this conversation a little late, if you are looking for a VW based speacil, why not get in touch with Mike Pearson, I believe his buggy is for sale, it may not look like a beach buggy, but it has all the right bits and in my opinion more potential than a fibre glass kit, that depends how handy you are, but I do know the asking price is very reasonable, about half that I was asking for mine.
Thanks Murray!!!! (for those who dont know, I am the fool from Hatfield!) I have already build one that was too nice to trial... dont want to do it again...thats why I want an old one that I can tart up and use without worrying about the gel-coated fibreglass.... David, I have seen pictures of the other buggy, but its not what I am after... I want a proper 'Beach Buggy' type of thing... like your old one.... Any other suggestions?
Ok, got a MK1 GP Buggy with no engine so will be playing in it soon... just gotta fit an engine... do the breaks, electrics and build a cage...shouldnt take long....
