B Series axle brake parts

A colleague is having difficulty getting service parts such as brake shoes and wheel cylinder repair kits for the BMC B Series Axle. Does anyone know a good supplier at sensible prices ??

Was also told by a local motor factor that they're not allowed to sell wheel cylinder repair kits any more as they are considered to be "too dangerous" !!!! - does anyone know if this is the case (or just a marketing ploy!!!).

  1. Haven't needed to use them but I found http://www.ntgservices.co.uk/ had
Farina rear shoes on special offer at 짙13 + VAT exchange (a long time since
I exchanged - seem to just chuck the old ones nowadays!). Also
http://www.classic-parts.co.uk/ say they sell brake seal kits and list a
rather general Austin/Morris amongst the makes they sell parts for. Again,
I've never used them but they might be worth a try?

  3. Brake slave cylinder repair kits were "banned", in theory many a long year ago, as the powers that be deemed that your less than average mechanic might not be competent enough to replace the seals. There was also the problem of wheel cylinders made of light alloy, corroding. I've found in the past that it was just as cheap virtually, to buy new slave cylinders, well, Ford Escort ones anyway. A useful source of spares might be http://www.speedyspares.co.uk of East Sussex, for BL Ford Imps etc. Another source of information is the Quinton Hazell site at http://www.qha.com  at which you can spend hours downloading lots of cataloques in pdf format. They still have part numbers for cars back to the fifties. The wheel cylinder catalogue is QH14, they do not quote seal kits now though.
