I had an exciting day on the Kyrle, passengeing Simon Groves. What a rough tough day it was. The hills were really steep and like all the other Escorts we suffererd major problems with ground clearance. Therev were quite a few retirements and quite a few cars with damaged bodywork, including ours, which you can see if you check out my blog http://spaces.msn.com/members/classicalgas/.
I have posted the results as thete were read out at the finish over at http://www.classictrials.co.uk/Gas05061.htm. Robert Grounds has posted a ggod range of pictures which you can find byclicking on these links.

ReplyDeleteAs a spectator to the Kyrle for the first time, I was particularly impressed. Certainly one I'll be entering when the car's finished.
ReplyDeleteEverybody was particularly friendly; even the driver of the Dutton Mellos (sorry I don't know your name) managed to shake Tony Young's hand (who was spectating at that point) while pulling a two foot wheelie on Pludds. It has to be the most incredible act of greeting I've ever seen performed on a trials section!
I didn't manage to get it on camera as unfortunately I was compelled to take very large steps backwards at the time. Obviously it didn't phase Tony though, who I'm sure is used to spending enough of his own time on two wheels too.
Great. Looking forward to the next one.
A full blood and gut's trial, every hill needed to be attacked (not the tree's Simon) Climb of the day for me was Colin Perryman on Burnbrae (thats how a BMW should climb eh Nick). Has nobody noticed Aid Dom only re-badged the class 8 special. Many thank's to all the team behind the Kyrle for a top event and great way to sign of the season's opening callender.
ReplyDeleteSomeone once said that the Camel Classic was " a trial organised by buggy drivers for buggy drivers". Looks to me like its got to pass that handle to the Kyrle. I thought it was a great day. I can't believe I did so well even after making a complete hash of both Jack and Jill. Ade Marfell has to be congratulated on puting on a wonderful event. Who would have thought you could run up cricket scores in April without tyre pressure limits. And it didn't rain on the day.
