Kyrle Trial Goes Class "0"

This year will be the 30th. running of the Kyrle Trial which takes place on Sunday 22nd. April. To celebrate this achievment the Kyrle will have a Clubsport section for Class "0" cars. Remember, no competition licence is required for a Clubsport event.
The Kyrle has a reputation as a tough trial but not necesarily rough. The Class "0" part of the trial is being masterminded by that well known Dellow driver, Richard Andrews. Richard organised the first Kyrle all those years ago. There will be some hills just for Class "0" and some hills that will be part of or possibly all of the main trial hills. It is our intention that all the hills for Class "0" will be as smooth as possible whilst remaining competative for the average Class "0" car.
So come on down to the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean in April.
Regulations will be published in February and will be available on our web site at www.rossmotorsports.co.uk

Exmoor '07

Just to say that I'm just back from today's Exmoor and I thought it was excellent - a good variety of hills and very well organised (unless you happened to fail High Bray!).

My own particular hang up continues to be those three sections in the woods - Jimmys, Badgers and Rodney's Revenge.  Watching Emma clear the first two of these was a bit of a revelation - pretty awesome driving!

165 x 15 TYRES FOR SALE

FOR SALE

I have for sale a quantity of 35 brand new & unused Motorway remould steel braced tyres size 165x15 [ Michelin MX pattern, ACTC approved & considered by many to be the best pattern available]. Additionally I have a matching quantity of brand new & unused 155/165x15 inner tubes. All have been dark stored in cool conditions. I had the tyres specially made. A few are moulded on Michelin carcasses, and I can select these if anyone would particularly like them. Tyres are £25 each individually, £22 each for a minimum of six, £20 each for a minimum of ten & tubes £4 each any quantity. I’d prefer that they are collected (from Hertfordshire AL8), but I’m willing to deliver or meet up with you for the cost of the fuel up to a reasonable distance. In absolute extreme circumstances I will send by courier – the cost would be £10 per 2 tyres. I’d prefer to sell in lots rather than singles.

Class 1 Classic trials car - complete and ready to compete

Class 1 Classic trials car - complete and ready to compete

1990 VW Golf Mk2 1300, taxed til May, MOT til Autumn

Sump/engine guard, with mud/spray deflectors
All underside pipes and lines plated, rear silencer protection
Front suspension uprated and raised, rear suspension raised and adjustable height
Fire extinguisher & battery tie down, straps for 2 spare wheels and loads of other useful mods.
Over the last 3 years I've fitted all new suspension components, bushes, top mounts, dampers and steering rack, new clutch and various other parts.

Also approx 8off 185x14 (4 brand new) and 3off 165x13 Colway tyres with tubes and wheels to match

No great competition pedigree, but this is more down to the driver than the car, which has always performed very reliably - also really needs a larger engine.

To assist with this I also have an 1800cc engine (43K miles) with Weber carburettor, brand new 5 speed low ratio (4.84:1 final drive) gearbox and most of the other bits you need to effect the conversion (needs about £150-300 more depending on how many new you use)

I'm selling this reluctantly because of work commitments, and would be really pleased to see someone continue to compete and develop the car. I'm looking for about £500 for the car, £250 for the 1800 engine conversion parts and £100 for the tyres & wheels, but less if you take it all together.

It's all located in N. Bristol except the engine (about 25 miles away in Stonehouse). I'd be happy to deliver the car and other bits before the insurance runs out (Feb 9th) but you need a van, trailer or similar to collect the engine.

Contact me, by telephone - home 0117-9507678, office 01454-643307, mobile 07974-237240, email ctclarke@blueyonder.co.uk or through the forum

Finally can I say how much I've enjoyed competing in classis trials and thank all those who've provided help or encouragement.

ROAD PRICING

UK ROAD TAX

Have done this, it's very easy.  We have nothing to lose by  trying - if you
don't want Tony & Gordon to have all our money  because we drive a car or bike, then please at least sign  up

THIS IS REAL AND IT IS A PROPER GOVERNMENT  SITE!!!

The government's proposal to introduce road  pricing will mean you having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying  a monthly bill to
use it. The tracking device will cost about £200  and in a recent study by
the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a  rural florist and £194 for a
delivery driver.

A non working Mum who used the car to take the  kids to school would pay £86 in one month.

On  top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will know  where you are at all times.  They will also know how fast you have been going,  so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit or park illegally for a few minutes you can  expect and additional fine with your monthly bill.

The authoroties will know where you are at all times.

If you care about our freedoms and stopping the  constant bashing of the car driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new  website
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax/

Please pass this on to anyone who owns a  car/motorcycle. It affects them.

I read at the weekend that the numbers of people signed up had already suprised the government.   The more people who sign up the more chance of stopping it.

National Sporting Trials Final

On Saturday 13th January the national sporting trials final takes place at Long Compton, Warwickshire. Forty-eight competitors compete for the prestigious BTRDA Gold and Silver Star championships with Northern Ireland’s drivers being amongst the favourites having won the last four titles.

Brian Edgar will be targeting a hat trick of gold stars at Long Compton, while reigning champion John Keatley defends his title, and 2003 champion Mark Vaughan is guaranteed to be a challenger. Home favourites include reigning British champion John Fack with son Jordan passengering. Ian and Keil Wright having been defeated on the last event for the British title will be targeting the BTRDA Gold Star as revenge. Duncan Stephens is amongst the favourites having won the last three qualifying events. Steve Courts and Julian Fack having both taken wins in 2006 could prove to be outsiders. This gold star is the most open for years with many home crews desperate to end the Irish dominance.

Nineteen crews challenge for the Silver Star with previous champions Richard Gowen and Stuart Beare looking to take the title from each other. Alistair McVittie in his first year may challenge having achieved some fabulous recent results. Eight crews will be debuting at this invitation only event.

Exeter club supper tickets & hotel

Unfortunately various problems have conspired to prevent me taking part in the Exeter this year, so I have two tickets for the club supper going spare. I'll send them to the first person who asks, if you receive them in time for the evening please make a suitable donation to the NSPCC (details on internet)
I've also just cancelled a booking at the Ashley Rise Hotel (18 Babbacombe road - within easy walking distance of the club supper venue), so they may have a vacancy if anyone's stuck for accomodation, tel 01803 327282.
