You can start with a handle-bar clamp from a bicycle map holder ( Lidls every now and then, bought a few on offer a while back) . Then its off to Morrisons who do a very good sandwich box. Off to B&Q for some plastic pipe fittings and a bit of pipe ( cut a 15mm screw type pipe joiner in half for two), make four holes near top but spread apart sufficiently to provide enough to read the route as a flat surface .Feed in the pipes .The screw on pipe joiners are used for the grips to rotate the pipes to which the route is stuck on with a bit of tape. Grommits for the pipe to run through and provide a bit of tension so that the route (four foot long) does not unravel. Next its off to Halfords for led lights get some red ones a bit less that the width of the box. etc etc. Really does work and very cheap. It might be that the whole thing glows in the dark too much - a bit of black tape inside is OK . The principle is that it is backlit, can be toned down with the tape to prevent glare. Not rocket science! John Lees
Will take some pics tomorrow, they will appear somewhere I suppose! By the way, I am a motorcyclist, not a biker, but that was not your description! John Lees
Pics are in 'Pictures'. I used it in a car on the LE Celebratory Trial, but M/C previously, needs black tape inside if a strong light is used inside or it glows all round in the dark! Put some fine screws through the knobs to prevent slipping. Can use dowel and put O rings on to grip the rod. many options, the boxes are only about £1 each or so . No problem if another is needed. The route usually needs to be altered in size from a down load or chopped about. Prefer'word' and no columns or rows, then the text can be increased in size up to 18 for easy reading and reduced in width to fit box - 160mm wide best for this box. John Lees
