Like everyone else I spoke to i had a great day at the Ilkley trial, helped no doubt by considerably better weather than last year!

great photos as always Dave. The weather made for a wonderful drive around but probably made the hills too easy. I enjoyed both of the new hills, although not rocky climbs they both felt much more like classic trial sections than the pct stick affairs they replaced.
ReplyDeleteHi Dave,
ReplyDeletenice to have a chat with you at the end.Got a couple of pic's on order thanks.
I must say glad to be back in the seat again.
Big thanks to Ilkley DMC on a cracking event, bit dry but hey no complaints from my wife who said we are going the long way home !
Cheers to Stan Peel and the hard working team of club members,a top event to celebrate the clubs Centenary year.
Thanks to all the gate minders nice touch.
Steve
Not everyone . . . your snap of the Yeller Dutton on Hey Slack (with new grinning navigator for this trial) must have been taken inches before the prop bust - rear yoke failed. 30 quid for new flange, spider and cups and it's sorted.
ReplyDeleteStill - first mechanical failure for me in the 4 or 5 yrs we've trialled it. I think John may have had a few more - ventilated engine block, lightened head and piston (valve in the sump via the piston crown), clutch.
It'll be back.
And some of you trialling lads really do need to practice PCT techniques on grass ;-)

Just got my photos back from Photobox Dave. Quick service. Cracking shots. James, where was the second new hill? I only noticed Watergate 2 that I hadnt done before but I may be going blind as well as senile. Despite our probs realy enjoyed the trial mainly due to the dry weather. Well marshalled and good to see tyre pressure checks. Yes, the gate marshals was worth it to save my passengers legs!!!
ReplyDeleteStrid Wood 2 was new to me, the last 2 years it was a straight climb up the adjacent field (although it was called Strid Wood 1 as we did it before the section in the gully).
