Wanted Marlin hood dead or alive.

I need a marlin hood for a long wheelbase anything considered good bad or indifferent, please don't be shy as i have literally nothing to even copy to fabricate a hood so that grotty torn hood you replaced  may be just what i am looking for as i said above ANYTHING CONSIDERED.
I am at the stage now where i am thinking about making some sort of lift off hard top to fit between the screen and the roll cage, this route is obviously fraught with complications so hence my last ditch attempt to find  at least a old hood as a template before i venture in to the unknown.  HELP

  2. Hi Liam, not sure wether it's the same but I know of a brand new unused, still in packing, hood, tonneau cover and side screens for a swb, they are synthetic mohair and not vinyl, if interested call me on 07973 986803, nick farmer

Much better to trial without one.

  5. Steve ! thanks for the offer but i hail from the dark north betixt dismal Doncaster and Shady Scunthorpe, a long way from your sunny climes if i fail totally finding anything i may well have to take you up on your offer despite the range.
Richard i do agree with you trialing would be better without a roof however years of the rain running down my back on motorcycles leaves me with nothing but despair at the thought of this whilst waiting to start a section for example even some sort of abbreviated hood that just say goes from the screen and over the roll cage and clips to the tool box leaving the sides totally open is better than nothing and may well be my cheapest / best option and most certainly the simplest to fabricate.
Nick thank you for the offer but i am sure the SWB is smaller by a good six inch or so to the LWB and adapting it would be harder than making one from scratch i think.

You will notice that ace trialist Bill Bennett has an umbrella sticking out of the back of his MG. I have one too in the Marlin. In case we stop, the umbrella serves as an imperfect hood!
I must say though that the drive on last year's Exeter from Plusha to the Haynes motor museum in a torrential down pour was not pleasant and we did wish for a hood.

  7. I think the abbreviated hood idea just from the screen over the cage and tensioned with two small ratchet strap ends off the tool box frame is favorite, should be simple to make. I have a tonneau cover to keep things dry inside if parked so should get by. One thing that would be handy a cantrail for the marlin these are not wheelbase sensitive, and i am not too sure exactly what they look like or how to make a substitute, any ideas and brief words and pictures are most welcome.

  8. A SWB one will not fit as I had a SWB tonneau sent to me onec by mistake for my LWB Car. Laing & Potter used to do em in Plymouth but think they stoped and chucked the patterns grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

My Dellow needsa hood and had thought of fitting one then discovered it would be nigh on impossible for me to get in or out. Im now laso thinking that the Fred Flinstione option (a simple up and over) would suffice for my use too.

  9. I thought as much Peter and to modify one is beyond my abilities any way, i am making some wind deflectors this will have to do for weather protection from the side. i am now set on making a simple roof , i just thought i would ask here anyway before i set too making some thing.
