I would really appreciate it if someone will either e-mail me the results when they get them or post them on the comunity. This, together with posts to "My Kyrle" will enable me to write a report for Clasical Gas.
One of the highlights of yesterday was "The Falcon Quartet". They climbed Pludds in real style. The quartet being Neil Bray, Murray MacDonald, Simon Robson and Peter Manning.Well done.Hazel
Well what a day yesterday was!! In the past I've always found the Kyrle tough going due to the need for power and more power, but I thought yesterday they got it just right! Adrian Marfell has done a fantastic job of taking over the reigns as Clerk of the Course, and made a couple of small amendments to give the lower classes more of a chance. I stayed for the results but unfortunately can't remember too many. But congratualtions to Murray who seemed to be on a mission yesterday and succeeded in winning Class 4. He narrowly beat Neil Bray, but it was close!! Class 3 was the highlight for of the results though. At long last the Escort domination was broken and by none other than David Turner in his BMW. He even failed Pludds after stopping to do the restart for Class 6,7 and 8. Despite this he still got off!! David Haizelden took Class 1 and Nigel Allen won Class 6. Nigel actually broke his diff on the final section but managed to limp to the finish. A great day's trialing and remember again, Murray wins often enough!!!
Michael, good to see you on Snompers. I have eMailed Neil Forrest and asked him to send you some results.Overall went to Adrian Dommett, Adrian and Pete Fear both on 12 marks so resolved on special tests.Class 8 was First Pete Fear, 2nd Tony Young and 3rd. myself. On Saturday afternoon all the hills looked like the M1, it was just that rain on Sunday morning that really changed things. Even for class 8 it was a very tough trial but I would not say rough.Stuart Harrold
I can't make any comment on the Kyrle because I was elsewhere but it's not 'my kind of trial' - I like to clean a few sections! I am, however, pleased to see that Stuart has taken up the rough/tough ideas from the latest Restart - I had graded the Kyrle 1 (lowest) for roughness and 3 (highest) for toughness and, after speaking to a few of those who competed on Sunday, that seem's about right. Any comments?Andrew
First I must say I am biased about the Kyrle, I have been a member of Ross club for 37 years and I am a vice president. The Kyrle over the last few years has not been rough. I do not enjoy smashing my Troll on some sections used down in the southwest, so I do not enter those trials. But the Kyrle is tough with a capital T. Driving my class 8 Troll last weekend of 14 sections only 2 or 3 were not very very hard work and even on the 2 or 3 a slip of concentration and you could have stopped. But I think that tough trials are far more fun and less expensive than rough trials. The Kyrle results were sorted on the hills with the special tests only required to break ties, surely this is good? Most of the tough sections were very very muddy and traction and control were at a premium, great fun (skill?). I also do not mind tyre pressure limits if the are reasonable, for class 8 I would have prefered 12 psi rather than 14 psi but cannot complain. At least there is little risk of punctures. On another note, I was running with 3 sidecar outfits, these are very impressive to watch. Stuart Harrold
The results arrived in the post today, and as anticipated Murray has not in fact won class four! There is a error in my score for Lane End where I have been given 3, whereas my actual score was 8.So deservedly Neil Bray wins the class. The error is being reported to Neil Forrest, and presumably a revised set of results will be published in due course.
