Synthetic Gear Oil

Can anyone recommend a Synthetic Gear oil for use in the Marlin Diff,  the std oil is EP90. Is it worth changing to synthetic?

  1. Pete,The local Skoda community and I all use Red Line 75W90NS API GL-5+ Hypoid Gear Oil in our transaxles. Neil Bray got mine for me but I know it is in the Demon Tweeks catalog ( I guess you will have Neil's phone no from the Allen). The Skoda boys says it doubles the life of their diffs from 6 trials to 12. Wow!!Michael

  2. Pete,I've got the Red Line Heavy Duty Shockproof gear oil in the "un-rollered" 4-star Transit unit that I shoehorned into the Rickman Ranger. Been running for about a year now so perhaps a bit early to tell.Take a look at their web site www.redlineoil.com where they've got detailed technical info and testimonials! The UK distributer is Delta Oil Europe in Linconshire (0147 6861195). They'll hopefully put you in touch with a local stockist. Interestingly I found out that my local stockist is someone a few miles away who has his own TVR racing team!Cost is approx 짙15 per US Quart (1.75 pints approx).Good luck.Keith

  3. Pete,        Trust Keith to beat me to reply to you!  I am also running the same setup with no problems ( as yet!) - The Redline home page make good reading of their oils, 300k miles in a dumper truck on a quarry would you believe. Shme about the price its nearly as expensive as the diff.              Good luck MikeW
