NEWQUAY TRIAL

I have heard via a normally reliable source from deepest Camborne that the 'Land's End' may revert to the Newquay finish, presumably the 2000 Penzance finish venue was seen as a failure by the competitors.
Also the reliable source has heard that the Edinburgh can not be run this year- no surprises here as the lead-in period has to be several months. I'm going to be in a pretty unfit state for next year without all these trials!

  1. Personally I think the Lands End should go back to finishing at Lands End !   Michael

  2. I like Newquay - there's plenty of accomodation and lot's to do there.

  3. I wouldn't mind returning to the Newquay finish, just round the corner from Bluehills. It would be a shame to loose Flambards though. The last time we finished at Lands End we got shoved into a corner of the car park and they certainly didn't want muddy triallers in their posh hotel. I can see Michael's point but then we don't finish at Edinburgh on the Derbyshire, sorry the Edinburgh trial do we?

  4. Hi All   Personally I have never had a problem getting a place to stay for either Saturday only, or Sunday as well.   Personally I like finishing at Penzance. It is a natural end, town wise, unless you get wet! But we usually complete the trip to Lands End on the Sunday. No point not doing the last five or six miles I feel. But I have never competed in a Lands End that has finished else where apart from Penzance.   Why (&when) was the Edinburgh shortened?

  5. I personally thought the Penzance pub finish on last years event was excellant. We were late finishers and there was plenty of good food at reasonable prices available AND some real ale. I would vote for the pub finish again. We have never had any problems in finding accomodation in Penzance by using the local tourist office brochure. Never finished at Newquay so cannot comment but did not think much of the finish at Lands End. Stuart Harrold

  6. Yes was a good pint especially as my Dad paid!!   Newquay it is for '02 with some new hills (new to me anyway). Does anybody know if the Bude around the cones effort is still going to blight Saturday morning?   Must say that Lands End has always been my favourite, and my reason for starting trialing, so a thankyou to John West. But I am looking forward to Roger's new challenges and format.   A slightly longer run to Penzance, St. Just and Sennen Cove on Sunday then!   Mark
