Reliability Trials in Australia

I have recently been to Australia on business and managed to get to the Philip Island race circuit. There is a mall museum there with lots of B&W photos of the early days of motorsport in the area. There were several from the 20's which were of reliability trials covering hundreds of miles with some nice old bikes and cars. So it appears that our sport once flourished 'down under'.

  1. Have a look at the web site below. Looks like they still do, although maybe not over any distance.   www.austin7club.org   Stuart Roach

  2. If you want to see what trials are like 'down under' today, have a look at www.mudtrials.org There is some interesting stuff in their technical section on Traction & Weight Distribution which may interest followers of the Alan Foster school of performance reduction.   Interestingly as well, having gone down the route of rear engined specials for many years, they are now saying "Hey maybe it will work better with the engine at the front"

  3. I'm warming to Aussie way of scoring - the winner is the one with the highest score. Suits me!
