Alistair, Dave Nash's car http://www.classictrials.co.uk/Edinburgh2004/Dave%20Nash%20Litton.jpg is actually a VW Beetle with an MGB body. If you look at the front of the picture you can see the VW torsion bars. Dave - he is the one on the right http://www.classictrials.co.uk/Edinburgh2004/Post%20Event%20Analysis.jpg didn't destroy a good MGB. He used the top bit of a car that had a completely rusty chassis. This isn't Dave's first car. Noddy or the SkoderNash was a shortened Skoda and the Skeetle http://www.classictrials.co.uk/gas97082.htm was a VW Beetle with a Skoda convertible body. The big question of course is why? Michael
thanks, michael....I'm well versed with Dave Nash's skeetle, and shorty skud....they were active when I was skodering a while back....a very innovative gentleman? I just didn't get the mg's number....but cannot fault the idea....although I suspect there were more than a few eyebrows shooting skywards? Will it be viewed by the cognscenti with the same disdain as a certain Ford sidevalve-engined pre-war MG?
Why would anyone look with distain on a Ford SV engined MG? We have just altered the definition of Class 5 to allow such cars to run there rather than be outclassed in Class 7. Get him to enter events.
i don't have a problem with it...spiffing idea....got to be a more practical solution, rather than hanging around waiting for an original engine to turn up.....at the appropriate prices....mind, sidevalve fords aren't the cheapo option they once were...and i suspect X-flows are going the same way! but I guess I was earwigging the wrong sort of conversation all those years ago? I like innovation.....I occasionally toy with the idea of replacing Morgan 3-wheeler gearboxes with a worked-up transaxle from a Skoda......driving in thru the front of the 'box?
