Ian Bates has found a new Trials Venue

Just had a call from Ian who has found a super single venue trials site at Ellesmere in Shropshire Click Here for Map. There is excellent parking and facilities for camping and caravanning on site so it would be possible to run an event over two days. The trials area has good gradient and it would be possible to run lots of sections.

Ian would like to gauge interest before going ahead and approaching a suitable club. He would appreciate feedback on what support he would get if he runs an event in this area. Please give Ian some feedback at ibates5198@aol.com or post a message here.

  1. Dear Michael,
    Re: new trials site.
Your link for the map doesn't appear to work for me on my "vintage"
computer. Will you kindly give me a URL I can cut and paste into my
    browser.
    Kindest regards,
    Dai the Cog.

  2. As one who could see the map clearly, I presume it was only intended to show those whose geography does not extend to the Welsh borders just where Ellesmere ( or even Shropshire ) is.
More importantly, there are questions about the site, and the type of event that is envisoned.   Are we thinking Bikes, or Cars, or Both?   Are we thinking a "full on" trial, like Ebworth Woods, or a new venue for the MCC's Testing Trial or a PCT run to Classic Formula.   What sort of terrain is it?   Grass, Woodland, Quarry?    If its suitable for camping there must be a lot of flat stuff.   If the event is to be run over two days, is there somewhere suitable for a social in the evening?
What time of year are we thinking?  The sort of weather that would inspire camping does not to my mind make for competitive trialling.   Too early in the year and its too cold to camp, too late into the year and its not only too dry to trial but everyone has gone off to do their summer thing.
Having said all that, though, I'm for it.   A new event in a new part of the country has got to be a good thing.  As its on my doorstep I'm bound to want to go.
    Go for it Ian!

  3. Simon,   Idea was to just show roughly where it is. Ian didn't want to reveal exact location to me!   Regarding what type of event Ian has an open mind. The idea is to go in the direction people would like but the special feature would be either events on consecutive days or an event spread over 2 days with an overnight stay.   Michael
