John is "interested in starting classic trials and was wondering if I could use a mini moke?"
I guess the answer to a Mini Moke is ys why not and I reckon it would be in Class 1. However, we don't see Mini's out on a regular basis as ground clearance is an issue on many of todays sections.
Having said that there were a couple taking part in last years Ilkley and you could have a lot of fun using one in Class 0 on an MCC event.

Alas, the Moke is one of those querky vehicles that does not comply with MSA regs. There is a rule that states that the bodywork of any vehicle must be at least Xmm above the drivers seat squab, and the Moke does not comply with this. The rule was intoduced to discourage the use of bare chassis in competition.
ReplyDeleteMokes do appear in Class O, where being unlicenced (competition variety) a blind eye can be turned. Running in Class O is a good and obvious place to start, but John should be aware that any longer term evolution to Classes 1-8 would require a change of steed.
I shall watch the replys to this one with interest as was the moke a utility vehicle and is not a 4 seater saloon ?
ReplyDelete"was the moke a utility vehicle and is not a 4 seater saloon"
ReplyDeleteAnd this is significant because?????
Thanks for your replies and info.
ReplyDeleteThe Moke was built for the military originally and failed
impress & was thus available for public purchase.
Does it have to have a roll cage?
Cheers
John
