Only glory for this one! Q1 bought memories for Ross Nuten who saw his first trial at Tring Park around 1983 and took this picture. No prizes for spotting Mike and Sheila Furse in RDT1. However, we would like to know:-
-
The name of this man
-
The driver
-
The car
-
The driver
-
The car
-
Who was the owner of this Dellow and what has happened to the car since.

At last one I can make an attempt at! No. 1. Looks to me like Geoff Jackson and I guess the Dellow in the background is his. Cannot help with the others. Robin Barlow.

ReplyDeleteAnswers to Quiz Question Two - This is the consensus. Apart from Geoff Jackson I didn't know them! Thanks to Ross for providing the photo. Geoff Jackson Gordon Huxtable Ford 1172 Special "Betsy" (Well done Simon) Andrew Kirby (well done Cliff) Ford V8 Special "The Beast" (Well done Simon) Dellow UEV3, owned at the time by Geoff Jackson, sold by him to Newcastle based driver Ian Reavley and is the car that was purchased new from the factory by Jim Templeton. ReplyDeleteJust as a postscript, the V8 Special built by Andrew Kirby is claimed to have been "the last V8 special to have been built". he assembled this car in, I think, the early eighties after his Ford Pilot died during or shortly after an Exeter.
ReplyDeleteFor those of you who keep piles of old Triples, (neatly ordered of course!) you can read about the construction of this car. I cannot remember which issue, I just remember it featuring. Perhaps someone with more time on their hands than they should have could rummage through and lets us know which one.
