I don't think this is a trials car per se. I think that what we have here is a picture of a small club trial in the early fifties, and this bloke is just an average club member having a go in what is primarily his road or speed special. Just think about what trials cars all looked like in this period. This is too heavy, and those very pretty wings don't do anthing for his line of sight on the front wheels. But like everyone else in the fifties he's just "run what ya brung".
Perhaps you should start a trend towards smarter clothing Michael?. The driver's hat might suit you in the dellow? You do still see a few collars and ties on MCC events...

ReplyDeleteYes the more I look the more I see what you mean.
ReplyDeleteNice atmospheric picture though. I love the way people dressed then. Makes us lot look really scruffy.

ReplyDeleteBlack and white is more atmospheric isn't it?
what about those cars parked on the road?
ReplyDeleteOne or two would make excellent class 2 mounts!
I think it would be great to see everyone suited and booted! These guys do it on The Rally of the tests, http://www.classicrally.org.uk/rott2009/index.html#
ReplyDeleteAnyone recognise the shape of the badge?
ReplyDeleteLooks similar to the old Standard badge to me.
