This will be my first time driving in the exeter trial, navigated for about 4 years and competed in the lands end in my old beetle. Iv just got a little bit left to on the marlin (ex angus stewarts car) but not much mainly checking things this car has been built very well. My dad got his beetle ready then trashed it in local trial just before christmas so we are working hard at the min to get it ready.
Is everybodys elses cars ready or is just start it the day before and hope for the best?
still got the diff in bits
ReplyDeleteFound the beetle and put air in two of the tyres
ReplyDeleteFirst time on the Exeter in an MGF............. could it be the last?!
ReplyDeleteWhat happened on The Edinburgh Nigel?
ReplyDeleteSimple....... alternator failure. However the car was too low and we burst a tyre on Bamford (our first failure on this hill). We have now further modified the suspension, renewed the underbody protection, replaced the tyres and enhanced the performance. The Exeter will be a good test to see if its any better now.
ReplyDeleteMGF? luxury lol. Good old beetles wouldnt mind another meself but cant stand the rust and arnt good for pcts.
ReplyDeleteGood luck everyone. The Clerk of the Course and his team have been out logging today to clear various parts of the route. We hope no more trees fall before Friday night and that the weather is kind to you all. It feels like there is nothing more we can do, we've jumped from the plane we're in free fall waiting for our parachutes to open which they usually do................. See you at the Trecarn............ Tim Whellock and all the organisers, officials, marshals, course cars on the 83rd Exeter Trial organised by The Motor Cycling Club (1901) Ltd, Britain's oldest sporting club for motorcycles and cars
ReplyDeleteWell done the organisers and marshalls! Where would we be without you.
ReplyDeleteThe answer is probably chopping down a lot of trees to clear the track Nigel :-)
ReplyDeleteCould that not be bonus points? special awards lol
ReplyDeleteWell That's my new battery turned up half hour ago (and a day late) now fitted and all tools / spares loaded. Off to go food shopping now and then some rest - maybe !
ReplyDeleteThink Ive got everything, cars all loaded up just need to get some tea, have a sit down, then leave for popham. woooohoooo. Hope everyone has a good trial.
ReplyDeleteOh no........ head gasket blown today! MGF will now look like an X90!
ReplyDeleteBetter today than tomorrow. I understand that's a K series weakness. Owen Turner (presently doing London to Cape Town Rally) has a modification that works http://www.roverofstalbans.co.uk/indexa.html
