Tamar Trial

Want to try trialling the Cornish way?     The Tamar is offering a Class O so why not give it a go.    It starts at the Wilsey Down Cattle Market where the Lands End has its lunch - Those fry ups must be another reason to give check it out.

This weekends Edinborough

Godd luck to all CG readers on this weekends Edinborough.
Unfortunatly I have had to withdraw my entry as the Trolls bent back axel has still not been repaired. It has taken a long time since the trouble was spotted after the Kyrle trial. I hope to have everything repaired by mid October.
As we cannot compete Chris and I will be marshalling on Clough Wood and will be at the supper in Buxton.

A Trabbi for Trials

Folks,

Now that I've been to a few events, to see what it is exactly that you lot get up to, I think I'm ready to commence my trials career.

I'm going to start in this - my latest acquisition - an aircooled 2-stroke 2 cylinder FWD 594cc Trabant 600S.

I've recently "liberated" it from Leipzig.

Anyone been out in one of these delightful little devices before?

Assuming it's allowed, what class would it run in?

Also, what tyres would be best.

And before anyone mentions it, they're not made out of cardboard eggboxes at all........................................They're made out of shoeboxes.

Tallyho!

2005 SSRs

It seems that the Motorcycle classes have changed for next year. Did I blink and miss the discussion on the subject. I now have 2 bikes that I can't use........

Ideas for trials cars?

Am constantly looking for ideas for suitable  trials irons....most of which have been used at some point in the past....

From the class 8 specials side of things...in the past, many seemed to be based on small commercials (Tucker-Peake made one from a small sidevalve thames van)..I am aware of the commercial rule....but on looking over the various small commercials available, especially from Japan, there seems to be a lot of potential....suzuki for one, although the chassis does have a pecualier hike in it.....but once the thing is slammed together as a two-seater special (perhaps avoiding SVA??)...and the V5 altered, then subtle changes can be made?
Then there are the small toyota vans?

Sound, reliable, tough mechanics (the running gear, not the boilersuit!)

Hindustan Ambassador?
Smart plus4?
Premier Padmini? (still sold in Dubai, apparently)
In fact, any car made for the Indian market should prove an exceptional trials iron??
(CityRover??)
But one I would like to find is the early 60's Skoda Octavia.
I saw one competing onan Edinburgh about 10 years ago....his wipers had failed and he employed his missus and a bungee to reinstate vision!

Innovation and ideas are what's needed here?

Tyres for 16" rims

I have "acquired" some 16" diameter wheels, ex-early Suzuki jeep, steel!
With a slight change of brake drums, they will fit the Suzuki axle I have in my Cannon.
What I need is some ideas for decent tyres to fit...they have a 4" width in the wheelwell.
Currently all I have found are taxi tyres, whose tread is high mileage type, with no sypes on the edges.

Any suggestions, including who might stock?
Radials may be favourite, but I am not adverse to using cross plies!

Optimum sizes would be useful, too......no wider than 185 or equivalent!

Also, does anyone know where I can get hold of (at least) 3 Morris eight wheels, post war preferably, 16" diameter?

Edinburgh Trial 2004

Posted on behalf of Ian Bates (Clerk of the Course):

We have had to do a lot more PR work this year as a result of which all competitors should take note of the following:

"Unless required by law, crash helmets are banned and any competitor seen wearing a crash helmet will be instantly excluded. If you have worn a crash helmet for weather protection in the past, please find an alternative."

(This applies to all car classes although directly primarily at the very small number of entrants who have chosen to wear crash helmets in open cars in the past.)

More marshals are still needed and, unless some are found soon, we may have to cancel one or more sections. Offers of help to Les Bowler on 01780 410200.

Front wheel drive in Class 3

I see that in the regs for the Exe Valley trial the Crash Box and Classic Car club have included in class 3 "..front wheel drive production cars fitted as standard with torque biasing or limited slip differentials or any device which is designed to achieve the same result (except vehicles in class 6)".
I wonder, have they a particular vehicle in mind or are they just trying to wind up the current class 3 regulars?

Polyurathane Bushes

My 1302S Beetle is very sensative to the state of its front suspension bushes and it really gets the shakes when they are worn. Does anyone have experience of using Polyurathane bushes?
