Thanks

Just a quick note to say thanks to all who managed to get me a navigator for the Lands End after the guy who was going to be doing it was called to work that weekend.
I received a phone call before I even realised that the request had gone public.
Hope to see many of you somewhere on the L.E.

  1. Hello Morris Racer
Clould I just remaind you that this is a "Real Names" forum, and if you have signed up with a pseudonym, you are supposed to sign all your posts with your real name - thats the one you use to enter events with in case you're not sure who you really are.

  2. If I can endorse Simons point. We introduced this rule, after a virtual discussion here, to stop people using this message board hiding behind a pseudonym and slagging off, people, clubs, organisers etc. I tried to enforce a rule where members had to use their real name as their nickname but for various reasons *** (see later) this wasn't successful. So for a couple of years I :- Check people out to make sure they are genuinely interested in the sport and not one of the many Russian ladies who apply for membership in order to offer services that most of us are now far to old to appreciate. I take special care if prospective members have a web mail address like Hotmail, Yahoo Gmail etc as its very easy to hide behind one of these and many people (including me) use these to do just that sometimes. In any case I now post new members real names and the notes that came with their application here Membership List - Key to Nicknames Members can also say a few words about themselves here Our Members - Add your own Info Here Having said all of that I think its always good practice to sign your posts and I am sure that Reg (Morris Racer) didn't not do so intentionally. As you know, like all the Classical Gas empire, this message board is a private place, not affiliated to any club or organisation. However, I try to run it in a reasonable way for the benefit of the trials community. Its fundemental principle is "you can say what you like as long as you sign your name to it". Having to look the other guy in the face after you slagged him off seems to work as a way of ensuring good behaviour! I started all this as I was fed up off having stuff censored by Motor Club magazine editors. In one case compeletely reversing the context of my argument to suit her (no it wasn't Pat or Celia) view point. In another case I found my letter had to go before the committee before it was published (the late SODC). I myself have been, can be and will continue to be quite critical off things I don't like but I use my blog, which is a more personal space to do that or stand up at a public meeting, say my name and make my point. In the past I may have done it here but after it was pointed out that could be viewed as abusing editorial privilidge (I got a flea in my ear from Mike Furse) so I try not to do so any more! The reality is that although this message board and the Classical Gas Site are non-affiliated, private places there is a sort of un-official, self appointed and much appreciated editorial committee that will soon tell me here or by private email if something I am doing or allowing something to happen is against the interests of the sport. Reg - This isn't getting at you mate, but its good to have a periodic reminder of what Classical Gas is all about. *** I accept that signing up to post here using Windows Live can be a nightmare, especially if you are not a computer nerd. There is a Master Plan!! Michael
