I notice that someone is selling FIVE of these bead breakers on Ebay, not cheap at 짙69 each but useful if you are into that sort of thing. I suppose it would pay for itself in 14 tyre swaps, the YellerDutton is pretty kind to tyres but we still got through one per event in the past season. Hmmm...

The last one went for aboot 50 - Michael
ReplyDeleteNot sure why this is so useful: is it so a flat can be repaired on the trial? or is it to use in the garage at home? In the latter case the SEaley TC960 is excellent, bolts to the garage floor, includes a bead breaker, see ebay 370088874662 (how do I do a link to a web site on this forum??)
ReplyDeleteRichard, A lot of triallers carry a Stenor, Dunlop or similar so they can get the tyre of the rim to change a tube during the trial. With a lot of wheels with deep safety rims it is very difficult to break the bead without a breaker. On my Beetle I have tried running over the tyre, using a jack etc to no avail.
ReplyDeleteIt went for 짙37.50
ReplyDeleteRichard. I have a spare Stenor if you are tempted! Makes excellent ballast. Yours for 짙35 to save me putting it on eBay. Nigel
ReplyDeleteHi Nigel,
ReplyDeleteIf Richard doesn't want it I will happily save you the hassle of putting it on eBay
James
Hello James. I'll give Richard a call to see if he has seen my offer (he lives just 12 miles away) and certainly if he's not interested I'll let you know. Watch this space - as they say.
ReplyDeleteNigel Tried to call you can you give me a ring please, number as VSCC list Thanks Richard
ReplyDeleteHello James. The Stenor breaker is yours if you want it - for 짙35 as mentioned earlier. Whereabouts are you geographically? Clearly postage would be high because of the weight. Are you doing the Allen Trial - as there may be a way of getting it to the start via friends from Stroud ? Regards Nigel
ReplyDeleteHi Nigel,
ReplyDeleteThats great, yes I'm entered for the Allen and as long as I can fit a new clutch release bearing by Saturday then I will be there! I'm based near Reading in Berkshire so not very geographically helpful.
Thanks
James
There's another Stenot on RBay. It's at 짙0.99! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/STENOR-MANUAL-TYRE-BEAD-BREAKER_W0QQitemZ370110484027QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item370110484027&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1345%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
ReplyDeleteI'm planning to do the Allen if I can be of help
ReplyDeleteThanks Richard for that offer. I plan to be in Stroud the weekend before the Allen and pass the breaker to a S&DMC member but if that changes I'll be in touch. If Jim goes down with the 'flu or whatever, you can use me as a substitute bouncer ! The Allen has long been a favourite of mine, an excellent traditional trial.
ReplyDeleteHi James. This site won't give me your email address at the moment. Here's mine > npmbrown.allard (at) virgin.net If you contact me I'll give you my postal address to send the money for the bead-breaker that Ian Moss kindly took down to the Allen Trial.
ReplyDeleteHi Nigel,
ReplyDeleteEmail on the way, apologies for the delay, most of last week/weekend was spent clambering up and down Welsh valleys following rally cars around!
