What do I do now?

Having just secured at a vey reasonable cost, a 205 GTX 1400cc, I wish to tap into the wealth of experiance within the group. In an attempt at the forthcoming Northern Trial.
Raising the rear end of the wee pug should be "relatively" simple. however can anyone provide a simple solution for the front end, ie. standard springs +2" if such a thing exists??
Sump and tank guards have been aquired, any other protection required?
The wheels are currently 14" , can any one advise on the most suitable tyre for this event/ car?

Think most other items have been thought through, but any assistance greatfully recieved.

Change of Address

For those of you who have missed my mass mailling:-

Please note that as of NOW,
Simon can be found at simonwoodall{at}actc.org.uk
and Barbara can be found at Barbara.selkirk{at}actc.org.uk
The Compuserve address is now dead

Replace the {at} with @ for those of you who aren't up to date with anti-spam tricks

Event Number placement

I didn't realise how important this is until the night shift at Waterloo.

We were up on the top bends and it was quiet difficultt to spot where the competitors had placed their numbers to mark my card. I was mindful that i didn't want to shine a bright light onto the mirrors to blind the driver.

A reflective number would be too expensive for the MCC but maybe a reflective red tape around the holder would be a good idea. Red as it faces to rear.

Bikes were much better even some were lit (!!) and others even called their number out when passing - really helpful lads!!

I wonder if Tim will put a restart between those bends next year. Nice addition for the reds!!

Stupid question?

Does anyone know of a source for the stick-on numbers that we're all supposed to have in the middle of our coloured 'class' discs? The old advice used to be to use the numbers used for motorcycle registration plates but, of course, no one produces plates this way any more, at least they don't seem to in Gloucestershire. Any ideas?

Copy of 'Wheelspin' for sale

I notice there is a copy of Austen May's Wheelspin for sale on Ebay (not by me!) - item no.3373757054 finishes tomorrow Tues 24th Jan at 18.48.  It is a 1971 paperback edition and seems a bit expensive at £15 start plus £5 postage. but an interesting read for Trialists, especially if you like the pre-war MG's etc.

My Clee Hills Trial

Marshalling with Mike Hayward at one of the new Priors Holt sections. Everyone was getting up ours so I managed to take a few pictures some of wich are posted on www.classictrials.co.uk also did a blog at http://spaces.msn.com/members/classicalgas/

It all seemed to go very well apart from an unfortunate accident to the GN driver who I heard was OK, hope so. I would love some more pictures or notes, either posted here or emailed to mleete24@hotmail.com

Wanted - Acerbis roadbook holder

I am delighted to have persuaded my brother to join me in bike class on the Lands End Trial - we will both be on Yamaha TTR250s. Thanks to Simon for getting Trev's membership sorted quickly to enable us to get our entries in. I am amazed how quickly the ACU dealt with our licences - excellent!

The point of this messgae is to ask if anyone out there has a s/h Acerbis roadbook for sale, or knows of one for sale, please?

I am not very good with the Tupperware and the thought of spoiling our event with a bodged roadbook holder exploding or leaking isn't attractive!

Sadly I was suffering the flu so didn't get to see any of the Exeter although Andy (fellow Devon TRF member) managed a gold on his Kawasaki outfit apparently.

Best wishes

Classic Trials on Wikipedia

I have started a Classic Trials article on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classic_Trials If you haven't visited Wikipedia check it out. Anyone can edit it, have a go and lets make it a showcase for our sport. You don't even need to log on to Wikipedia to edit it, but I encourage you to do so then your name will appear beside the edits. To be honest I haven't done a lot of work on this as I lifted the text from Pat's site. (with her retrospective blessing).

There is one on Dellows already http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dellow I didn't start this one but I have "improved" it!

265 Ivan& Sky Sharrack silver HRG "Hat"

I picked up a grey hat from No 265 silver HRG on Waterloo and despite my effort to leg it up the hill you had gone!

Then I forgot I had it until now when I located it again in the back of my car.

Anyway if somebody could give me an address to post to.

I'll get that done. mark.rosten-edwards@pfannenberg.co.uk is the easiest place to send the address.

Power of the internet???

Just seeing if the internet is as powerful as claimed...

I am badly in need of a passenger for the Clee Hills.  Its the Camel Vale dinner the Friday before so that's removed a few possibilities.  My boys are both committed rugby - so there goes another chance.  My other (and far better) half wouldn't go in a trials car for all the tea in China and India.

So I'm a bit stuck.  If anyone out there fancies a day on a top trial in a class 4 Beetle, please do give me a ring on 07879 454268 or e mail me on this address.

Vintage/Classic car Trials

Hi all
Advise greatfully recieved!
I have a 1929 Morris Minor Tourer, which is kept as it left the factory (you need to, to run in Light car events in the vscc). Trouble is the vscc only run 1 light car trial a year. They do run 5 other trials but these are a bit tough on a 20bhp car, as they are designed around specials and very poweful vintage cars (you probably know about the GNs and Nash's that are chain driven to a solid back axle, and some have about 150 bhp as well!)

So i was wondering, are there any other suitable trials out there for my type of vehicle?

20 bhp sounds very poor, but with it's light weight, short wheelbase and very good ground clearance, these Minors and the similiar Austin 7 Chummies can worry themselves up some interesting sections

By the way, the light car vscc trial is held on 2/4/06 near Llandrindod Wells, if anyone has a pre 1931 car with modest weight & power!

My Exeter Trial

I had a really enjoyable Exeter passengering for Simon Groves in his Escort. I liked the re-introduction of Meerhay, There seemed plenty of grip on Normans Hump and Clinton and we flew up both although I don't think it was so easy for the re-starters. Don't know if it was my imagination but Tillerton didn't seem so rough this year.

We had eports that the Cornich Escort drivers running at the front of the field had all climbd Simms so there was no way Simon was going to fail and we flew up. There was quite a long delay at Tipley, caused by almost all the 7 and 8's failing the restart. We climbed all the hills and claimed a gold. Simon hadn't planned to do the lands end but I think he will change his mind now!

I thought it was a good and well balanced event. It didn't seem as rough as usual but then I wasn't in my car! How was your Exeter Trial?
