Pining for the lost Exeter?

Then why not enter the Clee Hills?    We have a few places left and can promise a great day out in beautiful Shropshire.   Much work has been done over the year in reducing the worst ruts (Yorkshire Dutton drivers please note) and reducing the mud hole in Strefford Wood.
You can enter online at http://www.shelsley-walsh.co.uk/events/content.asp?ms=21&ei=107 or just print the forms from there.
Come and have some fun.....

  1. Mud - okay
    Ruts - okay
    Water - okay
    Snow - okay
Sheet ice - wheelspin at 1500rpm in 4th (Northern Trial a couple of years ago - okay
Enormous drops one side and no way out - okay
Puncturing on the first section with brand new tyres forcing you into running mismatched patterns on the rear - not perfect, but okay
Not dropping many points half way round - pretty damn good
Failing a section 'cos you select reverse at high revs and it went in! ) instead of first after a high speed, second gear, flat out, balls to the wall run along a set of muddy, deep ruts - not perfect, but it's your own stupid fault, and quite funny actually - we'll do better next time.
Doing the entire Lands End with a chronic misfire, gaining a Bronze - damn good - then finding it was the ign capacitor after all . . . damn annoying

Spending 40min talking to irate southern local 'cos of all the idiots in funny cars doing laps around their house, driving over the verges, flattening the daffs (see below for reason) when they've had no PR, thus ensuring she won't complain to MSA / Police / newspaper - okay (she turned out to be a very nice lady who helped us all she could, and indeed would probably have liked to have been on a route if she new about it) - not bad I reckon

Not being able to find the sections after following the route book - not so funny after 5hrs travelling there . . .

Have fun! If you've moved the roads to match the route book, the second half will no doubt match the first and it'll be a perfect, most enjoyable event.

  3. mud-love it ,ruts part of it,water love it [makes mud i belive],snow love it, for me if i spent loads of time etc preping car and traveling around country and it was just OK i think i would find something else to do. after helping motor club orgainising an event i relised some of the vast amount of work involved in putting a classic trial on.i suppose if the orgainisers were paid better then the standard of trials might rise towards perfect cheers for now arnie

  6. I think the clee hills is a brilliant event and its a shame I'm going to miss it again as it clashes with our holiday.I think it is rude that Simon has taken his time to advertise his event and the first reply is a whole paragraph slagging off his event and possibly other trials too!!!! Groover.

  7. If Brian can remember where the route book let him down I will personally go and check it/change it whatever.

  8. Graham - It was two years ago and the bit leading to Flouders Folly. Unless you knew where the section was you couldn't find it following the road book. I seem to recall it was fixed for last years event - Michael

  9. No doubt the irony of that name was etched into the memories of all concerned

  10. Don't forget that the Clee has a well-deserved reputation for being run in the snow!

  11. And after you have done the Clee, how about the Northern? When all this snow thaws we are bound to have a bit of mud for you. We are back after a years lay off with all those things that previous entrants like. Sandale is bound to be on good form after a rest. If you havent done the Northern before, ask those who have and then enter. And remember, the sections are just part of it, the scenery itself is worth the entry (so said one competitor a year or two ago!!!)
