Can you identify this event?

Hi,

Been meaning to post a photo of this for ages, can anyone identify this event?

What is obviously the finish is pictured and it is at a pub called The George in the Tree in Balsall Common in the West Midlands, near to Meriden. I have no idea of the year or any other details.

The "original" of this picture is actually a canvas print hanging next to the bar in the very same pub, The George in the Tree. I've asked the staff but not suprisingly they have no idea what the vent is/was.

A long shot, but thanks.

  1. Balsall Common suggests a pre WW-1 Victory Cup Trial -Birmingham MCC
But its just a guess. Next time you're bored at lunchtime you need to nip into the Gaydon archive and look at back copies of Motor Cycling. Try about 1912 vintage

  2. Ah, of course, the Gaydon Motor Heritage Centre. Fancy not thinking of that, I'm at JLR Gaydon every other week...

    Thanks.

  3. Its a Premier Inn now. I used to stay there often, they had motor bikes on show in the restaurant. The National Motorcycle Museum is just down the road on J6/A45 of the M42, by the NEC, might be worth a look.

Does anyone have details of the route that was used I have found references to some sections High Oaks, Liveridge, Blackstone, Mill Lane?

    Regards
