Kyrle Trial 6th April

Kyrle Trial is all systems go for sunday. 15 sections in all plus 2 special tests. There are 5 new hills for your enjoyment. We are looking at the reality of placing tyre pressure limits on a number of the hills due to the dry conditions. We have a full entry including 29 class 8. 2. Hi Adrian - hope it goes well for the club on Sunday!   By the way, is the Kyrle a cars-only event please?   Brian

  3. The Kyrle for this year is cars only due to falling numbers in recent years. As for a good area to spectate try the pludds area Brieley off the A4163 map reference Os 162 620 154 there are 5 hills within this area. What a difference 320 gallons of water down a hill makes!!!!! Enjoy. Derek Hibberd is with us and Gigi Betton Court Gomes is having a drive round!

  4. Just got back from the Kyrle, what a great days sport Ade and his team put on .All the new hill's were a great sucess and if it ever rain's boy are we in trouble.   Paul Allaway got his triple with his third win in a row over the golf (well done Paul) Nick Farmer got a triple with three broken drive shafts and still finished with Tim's help. Overall went to class four again unofficially.                                      Many thank's Ross.

  5. I'm glad it was a good event. Sorry to have missed it. Mike Hayward and I had planned to go down and marshal or spectate but first Beetle prep for the LE got in the way. Then I arrived home Friday night to find out from Junior that the computer at home was completely dead. Apart from the fact that I use it for the web sites he is sitting A level computing at the moment, his project was on it and he didn't have a back-up.   To cut a long story short we have a working computer at home now. Junior has got his project data restored but I can't edit or up-date the web sites at the moment.   I hope to get things organised by later in the week and can up-date then.   Michael

  6. I'd just like to add to Dave's earlier comments. Although the dry weather changed the character of the event completely, I think that it made it more enjoyable - for Class 7 at least. Having kept away for the last few years, when 'scoring' on every section was the norm, I was prepared for the worst but seeing the top of a few sections was a definite bonus and there was plenty to test us - somehow I don't think they'll need ST times to sort out Class 7.   Having said that we had an absolutely disasterous day, although this was mainly down to losing maximum points on two sections where there was more grip than we anticipated, the front end lifted-off on a corner, and we ended-up in the undergrowth - literally on Lane End (VERY many thanks to the marshals, spectators, and Stewards(!) who pulled us out of that one).   See you all again at Easter,   Andrew

  7. Certainly was a good event.   I agree with Dave about those three sections down near Monmouth.  If they use them after it's rained a bit there won't be many cleans (in both senses of the word) on those three. Class 8 was decided mainly on the restarts on Fox Run, Pludds, Rock Garden, Bluebell and Howbeech.  Point and Press was a very interesting hill.  When we got there only a couple of people had climbed it.  Then Mike Chatwin got his Troll up, Pete Fear got a 1 but later on Escorts were cleaning it so we heard.  Good choice of hill and order of running. Roger Bricknell had a bad hair day (even though it was Julia's birthday) as did Giles G. The lady journalist had a good time, so she said, inspite of  running out of petrol on the second section and nearly rolling it on Lane End.   Hope we get a good write up.

  9. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves on the day. Just imagine what the event would score like after 3 weeks of steady rain! Can I thank everybody that gave their time to help inparticular John Sargeant, Andrew Margetts for scruntineering Pete and Carly Hart, John Hayes as stewards and to Mark Reeves for his sterling work as chief marshal. I could go on.....
The results are posted on Ross and District Motorsports website www.rossmotorsports.co.uk. Congratulations to Ian Moss for taking the Kyrle Trophy
