Christmas Quiz Question 2

Only glory for this one! Q1 bought memories for Ross Nuten who saw his first trial at Tring Park around 1983 and took this picture. No prizes for spotting Mike and Sheila Furse in RDT1. However, we would like to know:-

  1. The name of this man

  2. The driver

  3. The car

  4. The driver

  5. The car

  6. Who was the owner of this Dellow and what has happened to the car since.

You can Click Here for a larger version of the picture.

Welcome to cliffm5 = Cliff Morrell

A gentleman who needs no introduction to triallers in the Chiltern area. I can remember Cliif trialling a Hillman Husky back in the 70's when he organised trials for the Herts Constabulary Motor Club at Milk Hall Farm and Tring Park.

Chairman's Trophy Trial

Another One Bites The Dust.
Alas, I have to inform you all that Holsworthy's Chairman's Trophy Trial will not be running next February.
The reason; there is no one prepared to do the paperwork.
I have banged on and on about the biggest theat to our sport being the fact that no one seems to want to come forward to organise events and here's proof.    You have only yourselves to blame.  If you want a Chairman's Trohpy in 2010 volunteer now.

... and don't give me the flannel about not having time, neither really do the organisers, but they manage to find it.   So could you.

Festive Christmas from John, June and Alex

Happy Christmas and a muddy new year to all our trialling friends,

From the scrutineers John June and Alex the apprentice.

Clee Hills Trial - Insurance

The Road Cover for the Clee Hills Trial is provided by Richard Eggar Insurance.
I would like to draw the attention of younger drivers to the fact that unlike Lockton, this cover has no loadings for younger drivers "providing that their co-driver be a more senior member of their family or over 25".

Number plates

Hi Guys
While reading through the latest Triple I see the photo on page 18 and the comments about its number plate.  I hope the owner of the Skoda has a friendly MoT man (dont we all?) as the MoT testers Bible says "Registration Plates - Method of inspection". "Check that registration plates are fixed verticaly, or as near to vertical as reasonably possible"
"Reason for rejection"  "Registration plates NOT fixed verticaly etc.etc.etc".
This isn't the worst I've seen. how about a 4x4 with the numbers and letters (no plate) stuck straight on to the front bull bars!

Fuel tank guard for a Marlin

Judging by the dings in the fuel tank of  the newly built Marlin a guard is needed.
Mounting the guard on the back bumper looks OK, but where to mount it at the front? The shock absorber mounts don't look strong enough. Should I drop the tank and weld some brackets onto the chassis?
Can anyone offer me advice as to the best way of going about it? It would be much appreciated

How was your Allen Trial

It was five years since I drove on The Allen and was very much looking forward to coming back. Interesting how some of the sections had changed. I couldn't believe Burledge was so smooth and Bitton Lane had gone the other way. Uplands was back to what I remember when I first did The Allen some fifteen years ago. I must say I didn't like the PCT type sections at Ubley Woods and Lakeside as they weren't in character with the Allen I remember. However, this was soon forgotten after the joy of blasting up John Walker in the dark. Thats the Allen Trial I love!

Results wise I didn't trouble the awards secretary to much. The highs were getting off the Bitton Lane restart, which used to defeat me, and cleaning the second section at Ubley Woods. The lows were failing Travers by not going fast enough and not getting away from the Burledge restart which was pure pilot error!
