Header/Expansion Tank E93A Wanted

I seem to be having a problem with keeping the coolant in the system when the engine gets warm. I have no expansion/header tank and wondered whether you have overcome any similar problems. Are there custom made tanks available?

Maxey Classic Car Show - August 18th 2007

At a loose end on Saturday 18th August?  Then polish up the motor and boogie on up north to Maxey (Just outside Peterborough) for Britains friendliest Classic Car Show.  Details can be found on http://www.maxeycarshow.co.uk . As far as I can remember they have never had any trials cars on display, surely it's about time that was remedied is'nt it? and any way, yours truly intends to have his secondhand book stall set up so the more that turn up the better!

Menwith Hill Station

Whilst enjoying the Ilkley I was intrigued by the 'golf balls' on the top of one of the hills and also the armed police guard along one of the roads near 'Blubberhouses' a look at the OS map made me realise that they are one and the same place and a search of the 'net was very revealing, curiouser and curiouser as Alice said. Take a look at http://www.fas.org/irp/facility/menwith.htm if you are interested.

There goes the door bell, Oh its a couple of Men In Black - I wonder what they want?

E-bay watch - another Dellow for sale

Ebaywatch - nothing like Bay Watch!

There is another Dellow, a Mk11, listed on the worlds favourite auction site at the moment. I've checked my piggy bank and have found 짙7 14s 3d which is nowhere near the 짙7,500 asked for it. so it's over to you out there in Trialsland. The list number is 290119541684 or just search 'Dellow' in the classic cars for sale section.

James Diffey

Sadly James has lost the battle with his illness and has passsed away.

A fellow Bedfordshire man, mainly known for his historic racing and VSCC trialling exploits, James cut his teeth in local trials in the Chiltern area, driving an Austin Seven he built from a box of bits his Dad gave him for his birthday. And who can forget him with a borrowed 30/98 Vauxhall, laden with half a dozen people bouncing in unison as they cleared the sections at Brickhill.

When he started racing he was very good and drove many exotic cars on behalf of their owners.

He still loved trialling though and was a regular on VSCC events. The last time I saw him was on last years Clee when he drove his Brescia Bugatti with all his renowned enthusiasm to the delight of fellow competitors, marshals and spectators alike.

He will be sorely missed.

Ilkley Trial

For all those nutters coming up to join us in Gods county tomorrow, in-case you are interested, it has chucked it down for over a week.  Even the bit of my garden at the top of the hill is water logged.  Sun is out now and the wind is blowing, so conditions should be fun tomorrow.

This is yeller Dutton home turf - and after a frantic engine removal, replacement rebuild and insertion after a slight con-rod /engine block interface problem at a club night trial on wednesday this week, it's new driver had best do it justice.

Excuse number one is we have no idea of the cam in this engine - but it does seem to get up and go from 3250rpm.  The 950 carb then reins that in at about 3500rpm . . . ;-)

Looking forward to navigating for the first time since this trial last year - means I can offer all sorts of sage advice from the safety of the passenger seat . . hee hee!

See you all there!

Peking to Paris Motor Challenge Rally 2007

Hi Everyone.

If you are interested in following me and Pamela Reid on our journey in a 1960 Sunbeam Rapier on the Peking to Paris Motor Challenge Rally 2007. You can look at the following. We are car number 118, in the Classic category pre 1961.

The Offical Rally Website: www.pekingparis.com
Remembering there are 134 cars, so our news maybe limited unless we're up in the 10 top (we wish) or having problems (which I don't want either).

Our Sponsor's Enersol. www.enersolcorp.com
There should be a link from 27th May. Click on Team Enersol - Peking to Paris.

...and yes Michael, I finally set up a blog...
Where I hope to write when I can. I can't upload photos but the Enersol website should be uploading them to their website, as and when we send them.

We leave for Beijing this Sunday, collect our car from the port on friday, Scruitineering is on Saturday. Serveral dinners and a big send off at the Great Wall of China, 60 kms from Beijing at 7.30am on Sunday 27th May.

We are raising money for Save the Children and if you fancy you can visit their website www.savethechildren.org.uk

I'll see you all at a trial sometime in the Autumn.

Best Wishes
Nicola Wainwright

Starter Motor E93A

I guess I am my worst enemy here in that I am running 12V negative earth through a starter motor originally designed for 6V positive earth. Perhaps not surprisingly I am experienceing loads of problems!  Anyone got any suggestions on how I can use my nice new wiring loom designed for negative earth and an appropriate starter motor. Has anyone got a spare Starter motor anyway within reasonable travelling distance of Maidenhead.
