Can anyone tell me exactly how much heavier a Ford Type 9 5-speed box is than the equivalent 4-speed Escort/Capri/etc. box? Some people say "much heavier", others say "barely different". I'll leave you to guess why I'm asking!

PS - I do know all about steel/aluminium bellhousings for these gearboxes, so no need to comment on that particular means of weight-saving.
the 4 spd is 51 lbs and the 5speed is 70lbs both without bellhousings & gear stick ive probley commited a crime by not quoting in kg,s but my scales are in english , hope this helps
