Edinburgh Trial Sections

Hello There,

The Edinburgh Trial Route Team are on the lookout for new sections. As you know from last years event we need some new hills. Can you help with any ideas?

Derbyshire is proving more and more difficult so we need to consider spreading our wings, perhaps considering Staffordshire and Yorkshire as well as our usual area. More radical ideas? Tell me them as well.

At this stage we can consider anything. Rights of Way, Private Land, Free, Paid For. If you have an idea call me on either 01332 832750 or 07860 559496.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

  1. There was an article in the Observer by Roy Hattersley bemoaning the use of old routes by "off road motorcycles" and "4x4s". One example was Black Harry Lane, which coincidentally I have marshaled.
Here is a taster off the Observer web site: "Until a couple of weeks ago, Chertpit Lane was just another Derbyshire footpath and bridleway – a couple of miles of rough walking through the spectacular landscape of the Peak District National Park. Now it has come to symbolise a cause, as the scene of the first battle in the war to save the national park from the ravages of "off-road" motorcycles and 4x4s. Off-road motoring ..........."

  2. VSCC's Derbyshire Trial uses two spots, which I suspect are private land available commercially, one is Butts Quarry, just outside Ashover, which is set out as Motorcycle tracks, Pre-War A7 club also used the site for a one day trial. The other VSCC site is Clough Wood, outside Darley Bridge, which is more open, unused territory, but had at least two sections. VSCC also use a track which runs east from the village of Beeley.
