Good News for Marlin Owners!?

It appears that purchasers of new Marlins will be able to spec any engine/gearbox combination in the new Marlin model.  Think of the possibilities of that for trialling Marlin owners...and what's more they will apparently fit them for you for free! Further details here:

I look forward to seeing a Marlin Sexi (I kid you not) entered on an MCC trial soon.  Not sure if this will apply to the 'sports cars for old men' (to quote the Marlin head man ) that we know and love the company for.

Ford gearboxes

Can anyone tell me exactly how much heavier a Ford Type 9 5-speed box is than the equivalent 4-speed Escort/Capri/etc. box? Some people say "much heavier", others say "barely different". I'll leave you to guess why I'm asking!

PS - I do know all about steel/aluminium bellhousings for these gearboxes, so no need to comment on that particular means of weight-saving.
