  1. David Alderson here, Ican't join you tonight but here's my Lands End story. Lovely night run to Tintinhull, stars above etc. Drowned rats onward to Minehead and beyond. When we got to Beggars the three Troll cockpits were all full of water. Lee and Peter made clean climbs but I was suffering from bad leg cramp and couldn't be bothered to get out of the cockpit. I tried the hill on 18psi, it didn't work! Hosking was as difficult as ever, Lee and Dani's Troll made it on trickle but Peter and I have wilder cams so we had to try blasting. Peter wasn't up to the effort due to his fragile health but he gave it a good try all the same. I had 6psi in the tyres where I should have had only 3psi! Emma tried her hardest and I managed four gear changes as we blasted it for about three car lengths but it wasn't on for us this year. Peter finally went out on Blue Hills 2 when he avaited the Troll of the right hand bank in the gully and snapped the nearside lower wishbone on landing. Once Peter's recovery to Minehead was sorted the two remaining 'Goblins' from our little trio snarled on to finish. Lee and Dani Dove were clean and pretty fast on the tests so fingers crossed. I blew Flambards re-start again with too much tyre pressure. We were quick on Flambards special test and determined to take ftd at Penzance which we would have done if I hadn't stopped with only one front wheel over the finish line! So that was it, my first n/a for about fifteen years!! Just to add insult, the monkfish at dinner didn't agree and I was violently ill through the night. Emma got her wish of driving the Troll home at least half the way, I was happy enough just to lie quietly in the passenger seat and sip water most of the way home.A really good trial though and I did enjoy the new Bluehills 2, we will be back for more next year.Best regards, David

  2. Chris Phillips and I had quite a good Lands end despite running number 351 just 8 cars from the end.First I must congratulate the MCC on the new finish venue, good beer, excellent food and a cheerfull staff, even at 8.30 p.m. when we finally checked in. Lets use it again next year.A thanks to all competitors who push started my Troll, the brand new Lucas starter motor just would not engage all the time. So much for thinking that getting a Lucas part would guarantee reliability! We managed to climb all the hills and claimed a gold, Hoskin and Cutliff Lane were hard work. Daracott, Treeworld and Flambards also needed a fair bit of concentration. Other than the intermittent starter suffered just one slow puncture which was noticed as we queued for Treeworld, we changed it before attacking the hill.Biggest surprise was arriving at Blue Hills with not another competitor in site on either hill, this must be a record.A very enjoyable event.Stuart Harrold
