Cannons

Will the chap who rang Dickie Milne of Carlisle some time ago to talk  trials Cannons please give him a call on 01228 533024 as he has lost your number. If he doesnt access this site and you know who he is, please pass this message on.
Despite upholding the tradition of 'Tail End Charlie' in the results for the Clee, I thoroughly enjoyed my first ACTC event. Baldrick performed admirably, it was just the nut behind the wheel  that failed to impress!!!  Never mind, that must be a  good reason to go back next year. I found all the sections very interesting, certainly some of them supprising me when I couldnt get very far even though they looked easy. All part of the learning curve. Back into the garage for some more ground clearence and a bit more grunt. Looking forward to seeing some of you on the Northern.

  1. Cannons.....
Good News......... I know where there is an original condition late 50's registered Cannon still on its original Numberplate BLY250 which the owner would almost certainly sell at a reasonable price if he knew it was going to a good home.   Bad News.........  Location: Rome, Italy But if you are serious contact george.simpson@worldonline.fr (just to confuse the issue further He's in Cognac, France!)

  2. If anyone wants to contact me directly or through the group re the Roman Cannon, I am now a member and will be injecting my two Euro cents worth occassionally.   The Cannon that Simon mentions was probably built in 1960/61 and, following the custom of the day, I "bought" a 1934 Ford 10 from a scrap yard - took the log book, extracted the engine/gear box, the front spring/axle and radius rods, and left the rest at the scrap yard. The engine was then taken to a Ford main dealer who for about £28, exchanged the engine (excluding bolt on accessories). A body/chassis was bought from Mike Cannon and the car was assembled, the Ministry of Transport (no DVLA nor MOT then !!) were asked to record the change of  owner, engine number (copy of Ford's invoice was required) and change of body from a 2 door salon to an open sports car.   Ah, those were the days ....   George Simpson Cognac
