Foot pumps

Does anybody know of a source for new leather cup washers for the old brass foot pumps? My trusty Kismet foot pump lunched its washer after Slippery Sam last weekend. I have tried a hydraulic ram seal but they are to stiff for a foot pump. Any ideas?

  1. Stuart,

If you can find a piece of leather of the right gauge then you can make one
yourself using only a pair of scissors and a drop of oil!
I have had success this way although admittedly the lifetime is not as long
as the originals - but I have always got a few years of steady use out of
homemade ones - low cost, low hassle.

    Good luck

    Doug

  2. I had the same problem some years ago on a Dunlop Major I obtained a new bucket washer which had to be cut a small amount to fit .  I got it from AMOS of Bodmin Cornwall on 01208 72613

  3. I have found a place in Birmingham that will make new ones for me. I have ordered 6 washer's for a very reasonable price of 짙17.00. I will let you all know the address and phone number if they turn out to be OK. I think the Kismet Lorry and Dunlop Major's use the same washer, as I have nicked one from a Dunlop to mend the Kismet.   Stuart

  4. The place I got the washers from is: G & S Brough Ltd, Camden Works, 25/29 Commercial Street, Birmingham, B1 1RU.  Tel : 0121 643 3574.   I sent them the remains of my old washer and 5 days later had some nice new leather ones which work perfectly.   Stuart Roach
