Hardy Trial

After much burning of the telephone wires, and much politicking I can confirm that this years Hardy is most definately on.    The new clerk of the course is Ben Johnson; sometime passenger for Tony Young, and the secretary of the meeting is Nick Ryle who may be remembered as a VW driver by those who are old and grey.   Tony Young is very much the power behind the throne, and I expect the revitalised event to have his stamp on it.
The new team NEEDS your support and I would hope that as many people as possible turn out to compete.    If you can't compete, then maybe you can volunteer to marshal - I don't suppose they will be exactly swamped.   e-mail your intent to Ben: BENJOHNSON0101@aol.com or Nick: albanyow@aol.com

  2. Regs are out today - Saturday - to all ACTC & ASWMC contenders.   When you tear open the envelope you will notice one immediate diiference...... The event is now being promoted by VWOC(GB) as Woolbridge had decided at the final hour that they did not want to do the trial.   But as the organising team was already in place VWOC has stepped into the breach to keep the event alive.   Ben, Nick and Tony have worked incredibly hard to keep thgie event in place, so please please support it. It IS still a round of the ACTC & ASWMC championships.

  5. I have posted some pictures in the Photo Album Hardy 2005. I have down sized them and given them a pretty hefty dose of compression for space reasons. If you would like a full sized un-compressed version please email mleete24@hotmail.com.   Mike Hayward and I marshalled on Boarsbarrow 1 (well he did while I took the pictures) and Bayards and enjoyed our day. How was you Hardy?   Michael

  6. Well I certainly enjoyed my Hardy.   the short route, challenging sections and the bright sunshine made for a great day out.   Shame I'd left my driving head at home. Boarsbarrow Restart defeated me along with many of the other early runners, but Ade Marfell, returning with the newly rebuilt special, showed that is could be done.   By the time we'd done 3 sections on tyre pressure limits I'd forgotten that it was not the rule all day, and left them hard for the grassy slopes of Loaders with the resulting disastrous scores.   Bent a track-rod on Pooks Peak 2 for the second year in sucession.   Must learn something from that.... I'm ceratinly looking forward to next year. Results are available for all to see on the ACTC News page - http://www.actc.org.uk/news.htm - along with the upto the minute championship positions.
