If you have already read the latest Restart you will know that The Northern will not run in 2009. With a committe of only 5, loosing 2 members who were the main organising force, left the others in a difficult position and the remaining three decided that we were not able or sufficiently knowledgeable to take on the organisation and do a good job of it. Other club members are located throughout the North and whilst there was a good deal of enthusiasm and valued input in our discussions it would be very difficult for them to be able to take on organisational duties. Reports that a specific team are already in place are premature but we are strenuously looking for a group of people that can do the trial justice and keep it in the position it has gained. However the comment in Restart that "..it WILL return in 2010, brighter and better than ever" does not necessarily recognise the success of the trial to date, nominated as Trial of the Year for 2006 and gaining Trial of the Year for 2007.Any team taking over the trial will have to be pretty good to beat that!
However for all the Northern supporters, be assured that we are making all our best efforts to continue the running of the Northern in the future with a dedicated team that can do it justice.

Good luck with getting a new team together Myke. The 3 Northern Trials I did were superb - great sections in the most spectacular scenery and very well organised. Well worth the trip. As you say improving on what has gone before may be a tall order, matching it would be good!
