You may be interested in this offer from Anquet mapping for 1:50,000 OS maps. Covering the whole county for £60, these are great for working out the routes of trials, where sections are located etc. They can be viewed on a PC at any scale, you can add you own points of interest, and maps can be printed out covering whatever area you want. I know you can do much the same with Multimap, but I find this software more flexible, and you can load them on a laptop and use them anywhere.
