Any addvice please on your findings regarding  lead replacement fuel additives, example which ones work the best for reliability and any specific fuels that you feel work better with lead replacement fuel additives .

  1. I have put Castrol Valve Master + in all my old cars ever since 4 Star stopped. People tell me its not necessary but it seems to work

  2. Thank you for the reply, i have been running 4 star leaded from stadium garage less than 5 miles from me both in the cars and motorcycles with putoline octane booster , but it works out a shade more expensive than normal pump fuels. So i was wondering if an additive with one of the higher octane unleaded fuels like V Power etc would still let me run enough advance and still stay reliable long term.
I will try it out see how it performs on the rolling road with a few mixings and if the power is there see how it lasts long term,
OH! The joy of modern engines with their management systems everything worked out for you beats this long term faffing around any day. I suppose the best option is megajolt and megasquirt but cant see me taking this route any day soon, thanks again anyway.

  4. You have been doing all the right things, with our race engines, we run a higher octane fuel like a V power or tesco 99, with castrol octane booster/valve master. And we have never had any proplems. The valve seats stay intacked and it gives good power.

  5. That is reassuring to know, i will as stated above start working on a blend or two now myself. Is V Power the highest RON rated of all the power unleaded fuels or has it been outstripped now by some other newcomer do you know.. ? ( just did a search Tesco millennium 99 octane looks like a contender)

  6. Am I right in assuming that those lead weights they sell on Ebay that go in the petrol tank dont work then>

  7. I have no experience or indeed know anyone who has used the drop in tank cells, They could well work but then again they could just as easy not work. The sheer cost of the likes of this example http://www.broquet.co.uk/faq.htm put me off, but please if anyone has any actual knowledge please contribute. Me! i am doubtful and would rather look for a fuel mix that will be reliable and available to me in a wide range of fuel stations, by just carrying a small amount of additives rather than carrying gallons of 4 star fuel from up here.

  8. THE FORMULA POWER FUEL CATALYST (On Ebay)

This will allow any engine designed to run on leaded petrol to run safely on normal pump unleaded 95 octane fuel.

The fuel catalyst has the desired effect of raising the octane lubricating the engine and burning at a slightly lower burn temperature.

There is no need to use a liquid additive or to retard the ignition timing or to fit hardened valve seats

The fuel catalyst is a tin amalgam and follows very closely to the original Royal Air Force receipe which was developed to combat poor quality and low octane fuel.

This product is not unique to us, there are a few companies producing a similar product but we hope you will be impressed with our honesty about this product.

It simply is placed into the petrol tank of any car or motor cycle and then only 95 unleaded fuel needs to be used.

Lead was put into petrol in 1936 to stop the KNOCK this product was developed in 1941 for the Royal Air Force.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST? Some companies claim unbelievable mileage but you cannot claim this as cars and motor cycles differ in the amount of fuel they consume.

We therefore state that our product will be good for 100,000 miles.

We give a 6000 mile test period, a full refund if you are not satisfied and a £1,000,000 product liability insurance underwritten at Lloyds.
