Electric Water Pump

Has anyone any experience of using these? I have looked at the Davies Craig product and also the one from Mike Scott-Coomber but all seem a little expensive. Are there any other alternatives? I aim to replace the somewhat huge cast iron pump that is on my E93A special.

  1. A friend of mine used to use one on his Mini racing car and swore by it, he had no relability problems with it, but I don't know what make it was.   Why not try the Mini7 Racing Club website, somebody there may be able to give 1st hand advice.

  2. Tony - We fitted a Davis Craig on Neil Brays racing Capri last year. With its high power output engine it is difficult to keep cool and we particularly wanted to continue to circulate the water after switching the engine off. Factors (apart from cost) The electronic control sysytem is a nightmare. To many flashing lights and we never knew for sure if it was running or not. This year we will throw the electronics away and run it manually. However it will need switching through a relay as it draws 10A. My opinion - keep a mechanical drive one! On your other points I am hoping Ken Green will chip in. If he doesn't remind me and I will let you have his details so you can contact him direct. Michael

  3. I recall that some, if not all Volvo 4 series had a small additional water circulation pump in the top hose, if that is of any use.   Paul W
