  1. Congratulations, lets hope that the slightly younger also get the chance to have one!

  2. So how many different buses do you have to catch to get to Lands End? And will you be able to persuade the driver to go up Blue Hills 2?

  3. Simon - Unfortunately until the national scheme comes into operation on 31 March I only get free bus travel if the bus starts or finishes its journey in Bedfordshire. However, as I intend to take benefit of all those things I have conributed to with my taxes I will work on the plan instead of dozing after Christmas lunch. I reckon it will be about 20. eg Bedford to Luton, Luton to Watford, Watford to Reading etc. Big downer is no winter fuel allowance this year as my birthday was after the qualifying date. Off to the doctors now for my free medicine before going to Focus do-it-all as its senior citizens 10% off day.   On the question of Bluehills I have always thought guys like Dudley and Roger B could drive up some of these hills in a double decker bus   Michael

  4. As a one-time bus driver of the old school, who drove for some time for United Automobile Services, around Scarborough and Whitby..I can assure you a double decker WONT get up Bluehills.....not with all its passengers still riding, that is.   The main problem is a lack of bus stops, either at the bottom, or the top.....plus, the rules for stop and re-start, do specifically preclude the exit of any passengers whilst stopped.   Standing passengers are also forbidden by the rules.
