sadly, I need to pass on my 1939 Morgan 4/4....to someone with the time, and/or money, to rejuvinate it.
It is a 1939 4/4 4-seater....Standard Special engine.
I ran it for some time, years ago.....but the engine needed rebuilding, so out it came.
crank, rebore, and camshaft bearings all re-newed/ machined.
but the project stalled over piston [ring] issues.....then my young son came along....and the back burner became the freezer........and other, more instantly-solveable projects reared up.
the car is NOT a basket case, however, and with either the engine sorting, or something of similar ilk installed [I actually have a 1275 marina engine, modified to fit......'twas an idea of mine, encouraged by Mr Comber, of Morgan trials special fame.
It has a fully rebuilt back axle, a reasonable new fuel tank, new rear floor.
It still has its front floor boards.
It needs a new wooden bulkhead...not a big job, ally-sheathed plywood [for caravans] is ideal......
some of the original instruments are missing [replaced], but it has its original speedo.
it has a recent new Springalex steering wheel.....and renewed steering box/column.
bonnets are useable, but would need re-making for those who are fussy....as do the wings, which are whole, but the beaded edges have broken here and there.
The car is complete....but in several bits.....some of which are worn/damaged..like sidescreens, hood frame...etc...seats need..umm...well....you CAN sit on them...
I also have all the factory details....and the number cannot be transferred.....plus it's SORNed.
I found it a real nuisance trying to get my large bulk (Simon will confirm/larf] behind the wheel....but comfy once trapped in place.
The price wont be cheap.....but will be a cheap way into Morganing.....let's say, about half the price of a good Dellow?
